TV on the Radio

For the past few weeks, I have been interning in the art department of Rolling Stone. So far it has been amazing and a great learning experience about how everything runs on the art director's side of the illustration industry.

Every issue of Rolling Stone an artist is commissioned to illustrate the band featured in the album review article. The senior art director Steve Charny told me that it would be great practice to do my own version of the review illustration for every issue. Sadly, it wouldn't be published but it is a great opportunity to build up my portfolio, get a chance to listen to great albums before they come out, and get constructive criticism from the art directors of Rolling Stone. This is my illustration for the review of TV on the Radio's upcoming album Dear Science.

This looks great Bill...the effects you did on the nose and mouth are awesome. I think the design on the forehead could be reworked or cropped out, but well done.

oh shit, that's awesome bill! they tell you to do your own illustrations for each issue, what are the chances they decide to just go with the one you produce? cuz this looks like publishing material as is. great work!
